What's the magic answer :?: I currently have a compact fluorescent strip on top of a glass cover. Where can I get the right size over the tank hood setup with the right lighting that will fit on top of a 46 gal bow front tank? Looking to add SPS corals to the tank.

Moved to the approriate forum.

You have a ton of options but my favorite is always a single MH pendant. It will cover your tank well. It's also the cheapest way (photon for photon) to get the most light over your tank. For SPS MH is by and large the preferred choice.

Problem with a 46 is 2 things.

1. Center brace so a MH is no good.
2. The Bow fron is tough to make a canopy for.

You can go with 2 150W MH hanging light fixture.

You CAN cut out the centre brace and replace it with a stainless steel cable bracing system, but you have to be creative.

Thats what I did with my tank.

One of our locals (actually lives near Matt) just sold her DIY canopy for a 46g bowfront. I saw it in person, and it was a nice piece of work. Fit two 175 retros in there.

Would have been perfect :(
