I'm setting up a 120 gal SPS tank and was wondering if caribsea sugar sized agramax (0.2-1.2 grain size) is ok for SPS and clams. I really like the look of fine sand and the bed will be about 1" deep, but will the sand irritate the clams and SPS? I also have a metal halide question. I am making a DIY canopy and bought a coil ballast unwired, and the mogul socket. I am using Ushio 250 10k bulbs and noticed a reflective film 1 " from the base and covering one half the bulb. I figured this should be on top to reflect light down but the bulbs sag a little in the socket and I can't screw it in further because then the film would face sideways. Anyone else had this problem? Is it a problem? Advice appreciated.
