So, I have a growing colony of this coral, but it's still a light purple (almost greyish). Does it ever become a bright purple color? What lighting should I have it under?

If kept up high, the whole thing (including polyps) will turn an intense purple. I kept mine midway, so the lighter purple would contrast from the polyps:

It doesn't look good in low light or shaded areas.

I have a 3-4" Idaho grape cap growing under (2) 250 watt SE 15K MH (XM) on a PFO ballast supplemented with (2) 75 watt URI VHO actinic on an IceCap 660. It is about half way down in the tank (110 gallon). It is very very purple. I have had it for about 3 months now with no change in color. Hope this helped

I have mine up high but at the rear of the tank which is partially shaded by plumbing. I might have to move it out in the open. It has the classic Idaho Grape growth form .... the color, though, is rather drab. Fast grower though!

I have mine placed rather high also, it went through a period after introducing to my tank of loosing some of the intensity, but it's baaack..

Mine is under a 250w 10k reeflux, it was a intense purple, lost the intensity for maybe 10 days but it's been getting brighter every day now.

Sounds pretty, how about a full tank shot so we can see where it's placed vis a vis your lighting?
