But if you're water really is too clean, then I'd ask how is your skimmer? You don't have a two-thousand dollar Deltec skimming the bejeezus out of a 58. Or do you?

How old are your bulbs, what K and wattage are they?

No Deltec (Yet at least). Its a Euroreef ES5-3 - I get about 1-2 inches of skimmate in the cup twice a week.

Lights are 9 months old now - 250W HQI 14K Phoenix and 2 95W VHO actinics.

I cut back the lights by an hour each last night.

I just wanted to say keep hangin in there. It is all going to work out in the end. There has been a lot of good advice given here. A lot maybe trial and error, but you will get it fixed soon. You are on the right track.
