lps vs sps

I may be mistaken (and probably I am since I'm just a lowly newbie) but it seems that most of the coral for sale and tank pics on MR are sps corals. Is that a misperception, or is there a preference for sps?

I did softies in the beginning hard corals requires more skill, time and headaches if done half ass,,lol.. I keep all sps and about 30 maxima clams

You're right on target for one main reason, fragability (that's my own word ). SPS are as easy as snapping a twig to frag. LPS takes some knowledge to frag. Not that it's difficult, just requires a bit of finesse.

Since anyone can easily frag sps, and lps require tools, you'll always see more sps being sold by reefers.

I love my LPS, but you have to have some SPS.. There are some REALLY nice ones out there....
