OK so heres the deal I have all kinds of SPS in my 75 gallon and all are doing good exept the ones in direct flow, I tought sps were supposed to like high flow. Why is that happening???
They do like strong flow, but they don't like continually being blasted with strong flow, you need to randomize or pulse it so they have some slack time.

I have a 4 foot 120g and return flow with a 1000 gph PX40 pump in addition to a 3600 gph Dart closed loop on a Oceans Motions 4-way with Revolutions on the back and a pair of 3000 gph Vortechs.
Lots of flow but as Randy mentioned, all flow is random and not laminar. The return flow is directional with Wavy Seas, the Dart closed loop fluctuates from front to back and the back nozzles are randomized a little more with revs and the Vortechs are on full intensity in anti-sync reef crest mode so there is no laminar flow.
SPS love high flow, half the success is flow & the other half lighting
so what kind of corals should I put directly across my Vortech?? The MP40 is about 5" away from the rock and coral, If i mp40 too high it sucks air. What should I do??
thats what i thought too so i put my sps directly in front of my powerhead and they didnt do well. i was advised to move it further away and then they not only recovered but are doing well now. they like high flow but not too direct
