since i started my new 70g tank, which was an upgrade from a 34g solana, ive had this persistent green algae growing. the 34g i had for a year, i cured base rock for a month, and the 70g has been set up for about 3 months already.

my parameters are:
Phosphate (using a Hanna meter): 0.03
PH: 8.2
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0
Ammonia: 0-0.25

I do not have any fish in the tank because of an ich outbreak which happened about a month ago. So its been fallow for 3-4 weeks. One thing that I think it may be is, i have an 8 bulb ATI over the tank. i bought the fixture and bulbs used and do not know how old the bulbs are. i replaced one with a new one.

looks like the pices of the sps that have the algie are dead, and it will continue up the stalks.

Are you running gfo in the tank at all.

Make sure you clean the glass on the test tubes for the hanna meeter.
How do you have ammonia if you have no fish in the tank it shoul dhave went down, and my guess your tank might be going through a light cycle and also a mini cycle if you just up graded.
What is your alk cal and mag readins as well.

A friend of mine had a similer algae growth problem and he by mistake over filled the tank with fresh water with kawlkaser and the green stuff just died after that but his salt levels went down so maybe use some kalwkaser in your in the fresh water top off.. tangs are a good cure for green algae growth cause they are like cows... Thats all my kole tang looks for all day when Im not feeding... also do you add mag to the system? Look into those things and see what happens. Also what kind of salt are you using? and what kind of water do you use to make saltwater and top off? good luck.
