A few things. Of course you know I always have the long responses.

1. How much is your budget for lighting? I think this will dictate the majority of your choices.
2. You want a mixed reef so how much SPS are we talking about?
3. Do you have specific aquascaping in mind?
4. How far is the fixture going to be from the tank?
5. Currently how are your SPS placed? Is it near the Vortech where there's a lot of flow?

If I were doing a cube with those dimensions I would get 3-4 of those PAR38 LED bulbs and hang them above the cube tank for aesthetics, cost, and functional purposes. You can also adjust the height individually depending on what fixture you hang it on (here you have a lot of choices so it can match your house). With the spare money I'd pick up another MP10 to really get flow going around. I am figuring all of this is in the budget range of $500. But keep in mind. I am a noob :)

Noob LOL!
Hi Ted.
You now me man. Aquascaping will change like my drawers. Hand will constantly be in the tank and nothing will ever grow!!!

But seriously. SPS will be up high, LPS where it is a little more shaded or under some overhangs. Acans and junk down low.
I would really just like a light that will support SPS and that will allow me some flexibility when it come to placement.
Right now most of my sps are in really good flow areas and seem to be doing quite well.
Additional MP10 is a must if I upgrade. But for now the one in the solana is a tornado if I turn it up.
I normally keep it on Reef Crest? (yellow) Full Blast.
As far as budget goes. $0-$500
Fixture will be like 5-8" from top of tank

Hmm...

Yea I would go with the multiple PAR Bulb set ups. They are cost efficient, work really well, and can be easily installed/concealed. I know everybody is saying T5's but man I am a sucker for that shimmer effect-- not sure if you are.
