hey guys i have a deep water acro and a portion of the mother colony died what should i do should i frag off the part that still alive and try to save it or leave it as is thanks for your help
I don't thinks so. AEFWs don't generally lay eggs mid branch, they lay them at the base of the colony. Either way, you need to frag out the healthy branches well into the healthy tissue and I'd give them a dip in revive or Coral RX and place in an area with good flow.
From what I have heard and read up on. Aefw will lay eggs on any part of the dead or bare skeleton. They would usually start down low where dead skeleton would most likely be due to say, fresh cut , no light and skeleton exposed. Then if there is any dead or exposed part of the acro , they will lay eggs there.
