thanks gentleman. all the trading for these sick corals really paid off huh LOL.
just think at least one coral from most of you help put my tank together. for this I thank you, and appreciate people like you guys who make this hobby worth while.
yea sorry the zoas pics were under 80% blue led. my phone can get some okay pics of it. maybe one day I will stop buying corals and buy a good camera..... naaaaa.
its getting packed and I should just let things grow but, I figure before everything grows I might as well pack it with all the awesome corals that I like.
btw update.... 023ppm on my tds meter. I thought my meter was bad so I have let it be...I figured the tank has been doing soooo well the last few months I thought I had nothing to worry about. picked up a handheld tds meter today and 023ppm is what i saw... whoa. I still can't believe that nothing has melted or stnd or rtnd or worse.
one of the major things in this hobby that I have learned is WATER QUALITY and CONSISTENCY is the most important things. fingers crossed now that I replaced the RODI MEMBERANE (soon as I saw the higher tds readings I had replaced all of filters except the membrane week of christmas) and tds is now 000ppm that nothing gets mad and melts.
UPDATE 2013:
having a 1 year old definitely makes this hobby that much harder. to all you fellow fathers out there, my hat is off to you because it is not easy. she constantly looking to get into my fish tank room. if i ever leave the gate open she is right there next to me. hopefully she will be daddy's little helper, hopefully.
anyways, the tank did make it through sandy with out too much problems. yes i did lose some corals after the first few weeks after sandy. i also tried adding a second chamber to my calcium reactor, which after months of trying to adjust it, caused lose of corals. you live, you learn and you try not to repeat. my tank for the last two weeks is starting to become stable again.
ever since we first started this tank i kept the sg at 1.024 which kept my alk at about 11dkh. yes i know that is very high but, corals were growing once acclimated. recently i have been running my sg at 1.023 which now has my alk hovering at 9dkh. some corals like my chalices weren't too happy with this change (no i did not do this over night). i had slowly dropped it after 2-3 weekly water changes. my zoas seem a lot more happy, sps change some of their colors and lps no change really. okay enough about this...time for some pics. these are with a canon camera and i still have no idea how to use it yet.
Finally a pic of my coral beauty. she is 6 years old.
