Pics are being promised for tomorrow

Picked up a Tek 6 bulb fixture from Jawwad (thanks!) and right now my bulb combo is:

3x Geissman Midday (6000k)
1x Geissman Aquablue
2x Geissman Pure Actinic

Actually love the color, very clean crisp white color. Colors aren't the best, but the tank is still pretty new and I'm sure things are settling into place. I'm very slowly and carefully acclimating everything to the lights. Have then about 9 inches off the surface, actinics on for 8 hours, daylight for 4 hours. Gonna work my way up to 10 hours day light and 12 hours actinic.

If nothing else growth should be awesome.

I'm also getting 2 dosers going this weekend and my ATO next week. Making a screen cover for my tank to prevent any jumpers and I think I'm all set.

Ordered some filter sock material in 30x36in sheets, gonna cut them down and make 18 filter socks from 3 sheets. Each should be roughly 15x6inches wide. $24 for 18 socks isn't so bad.

Hey Kris which doser are you going with?

Went with 2 x Sentry doser pumps. Coulda went with 1 and used the two-channel tubing but I figure this way I can really control how much alk and ca go into the tank.

Ask jerl about t5 bulbs for that fixture kris i no you like the crisp white color but i dont think you will get te colors you should get with those bulbs. How much longer do you have on those bulbs?

I'm not so worried about color for now, the corals that do still have nice color look find under these lights and I'm sure it will get better. These bulbs have at leat another 6-8 months on them, so I'll be using them for a while.

Think of it this way, I'll get better growth and possibly sacrifice a little color. It's all experimenting :lol2:

Next time around I'm going to go with the combo Jerl recommended, unless I get results I like with this combo.

wow.... that's going to be a yellow tank... and not get any purple coraline... you're gonna see a lot of green coraline grow.

Ron, actually it's not yellow at all you'd be surprised. I'm sure I'll get purple coralline and even if I don't no worries not what I'm trying to grow in any case

I bought the 3 pack and it'll make 18 nice sized socks. That way I can wait for weeks before I had to wash a load of them and by then it's worthwhile to spend the $$ on washing. I'll post pics of the process.

My long awaited picture update. Things are looking good, but still dealing with some "new tank" troubles but nothing major. I'm thinking it'll be another month or two before I start seeing any real growth upwards and yea things are pretty brown now but that should turn around soon enough.
