Just a quick update....
Tank's in good health. A lil brown algae here and there since I've been over-feeding the tank. I see some hair algae on the rocks....don't know where t hey came from but that indicates I need a big WC. My xenias are dying...prolly due to the declining water quality but also it's seasonal die-off stage. I added 2 more euphyllia's to my tank, a light teal and dark teal hammer, each with 2 heads. Fish are happy, corals are happy. I see some growth in the gorgonias since branches are getting thicker.

Thing's I've noticed with using T-5s.
My lobo and open brain go nuts when the 10k bulb comes on and open up like crazy! However, I see my teal candies bleaching a little bit. GSP has grown very rapidly and is a lot more neon now. The rainbow frogspawn does not open high and wide....it just opens wide now w/o reaching for the light. The polyps on the gorgonias have come out a lot more and developed long skirts...prolly due to the increase lighting from T-5s. The only bad effect of using T-5s might be my xenias...they're slowly melting. The elongata type is the one that seems to be declining at a faster rate than the pompoms. This could be one of many reasons, from not so prestine since i've been over-feeding, or could be that they're getting too much light. Although I'm sad to see them die-off slowly, I now have more real estate open on my tank.

Here are few pics of the tank I took today. Two pics are from the left side and two are full front shots.

The first two pics are with only (1)Aquablue+ and (1)Midday bulbs on...with arrows to the new hammer additions
The last two pics are with all (2)Aquablue+, (1) Pure Actinic, (1)Midday bulbs on.

Sweet as ever froggie, what is your water temp? Xenias prefer cooler water temperatures. Xenias are good to have because they filter the water like mud filters. Keep up the good work!

I'm not 100% sure that gorgonias have to have brown polyps to be photosynthetic but I do find all my photosynthetic gorngonias do have brown polyps. Sealifeflorida.com do seel non-photo gorgonias, and I believe the polyps are white. I ordered one and will let you know Weds when it arrives, with pictures ofcourse. :)

Sorrie scarf, the yellow fiji fell on top my candy canes while I was visiting a friend over the weekend, about 2 weeks ago. When I got home Sunday, it was badly stung and slowly melted away that week :irked: :(

I must admit, froggie switch me to the gorgonias side.
Thank you master.
Please tell us more on how you keep yours looking so sweet.
:tongue1: thx Dru.... no secret. I make sure they get enought light and feed cyclo-peeze mixed with Marine Snow twice a week, which my fish love also. And the occasional turkeybaster blasting to make sure no detritus accumulate on the stalks. They enjoy it, its like a shower to them,:yo:. If you have a bigger tank, I suggest using a spare powerhead and just sweep it along each gorgonia stalk (but be careful not to blast their flesh off!). They also shed/molt occasionally, once a month or every two months, so don't freak out seeing their skin peeling off evenly.

2 new additions

I got a non-photosynthic gorgonia. Lets see how I do with this one.
I placed it in a lower lit area in the back but couldnt take very good pictures so I moved it forward. The polyps starting coming out about 2 hrs after I introduced it to my tank.
I also got a frag of green pavona from Jay...thx dude!
