I have been asked to post info on my fish system (it's not a tank but rather 4 interconnected tanks). Fisrts let me start of with that this is an evolution from about 5 years of salt water tanks, second it's highly automated and somewhat abnormal.
The main tank is 72*36*30 (l*h*w) yes it's higher than deep, and it's a bit of a mistake. It is lit by 5 400W MH (3 10K and 2 20K) + 2 moon lights and 660W of acatinics. I have 3 dolphin 3000 pumps running as recirculation via internal hoses and 2 (will add one more) sea swirl. This tank has about 600lbs of LS and around 600lbs of LR.
The small tank is a standard 75G. It is lit by 660W of acatinics + 220 W of 50/50. 4-6" deep sand bed and about 75lbs of LR
The third tank is a very tall 65G tank, it is lit by 150W MH (6.5K). I have 2 ebo jager 250W heaters in this tank. 180lbs of crushed coral bed and about 250 lbs of LR.
The sump/low light tank is a 150G tank but it's only 1/2 full. It is lit by a 20W acatinic. About 50lbs of LR
The main tank flows straight into the sump (via 60 feet of 3" pipe), the 75 flows completely into the 65 which then drains into the sump. The 75 empties into the bottom of the 65 and all the water flows trough the argamax sand bed, 6" deep. The sump returns to the tanks via a Dolphin 5600 (I can not say enough good things about dolphin pumps). I have 3 ebo jager 250W heaters in the sump. The skimmer is a 6' 4" diamiter toy and it's driven by 2 MAG 3600's the each drive a 3/4" venturi and for calcium I have a PM 622. I use a Neptune aquacontroller to moniter the system and have a dedicated computer to run all the related systems. I hade to get 2 of the direct connects as my blueline balasts put out to much noise to use X10. I use a Spectrapure RO/DI unit for top off, with a kent shut of kit and flush valve (not installed yet) and have recently added 2 maxijet 1200 to my 65G sump. I am also trying a phosphate filter to see if it does any good in my system.
The plumbing and water distribution system is a bit of a scary story so I'll post pictures later (I think I am up to 48 valves or so) The skimmer has a self cleaning device (inverted sprinkler on a water timer) so I do not have to clean it and it's odour free). And the waste is plumbed straight into the drain same for waste water.
I will update this post with more info and pictures. But the system was hit very hard by a disaster of a move, when we changed office location about 6 months ago.
