So far...28 lbs Fiji (3 wks), 30lbs dead sand, 28 lbs collected live sand (2 days). The bed is 3.5 inches so far and the rock grid is still visible in a few spots. I will add sand and possibly seed once my aquafuge arrives.
Circulation: 2 201's and Aquafuge
Lighting: 96 Powerquad, may add 13 watt dusk and red night, 13 fuge

Coming soon: The aquafuge, macroalgae, button colony rock, hermits

Is that hair algea i see all over the place? If so, I wouldn't add any more corals until you get that under control.

I am keeping an eye on the algae. The LFS started a 12 at he same time as my tank. The only differences were that they made a bigger effort to remove detritus after curing the rock and they added 20 scarlet hermits early whereas I went with 3 scarlets and 5 bluelegs initially in a tank twice the size. It was simply an experiment to see how big a difference the detritus would make short term and long term. I trust the LFS and I followed a process they often use.

The initial bloom appears over and the critters are slowly making progress. I expect adding the macroalgae will also help a bit. I may add star polyps which usually do well in nutrient rich environments though I may end up having to feed them as the levels go down.
