First of all, it came with the tank. Secondly, I hear it's a little better substrate than sand, really not much better though.

I did add a 2 lbs of live sand to sead the crushed coral though.

In picture DSCF0041 how do you keep the water from spilling out like that on its side? I tried it and all my water fell out!

Some people dislike crushed coral for many reasons one of them being that they can trap more waste since the grain size is larger and has odd shapes. Good husbandry is key though.
