Greetings RDO,

Here's a photo synopsis of my build from my 65 to my 140. This is about 6 months of work condensed into a few quick posts.

WOW. And the tank looks just the right size for the merboy. :D That's just gorgeous, beautiful work.

Thanks - I'm glad that it is finally coming to completion... :D

Did you say merboy? *edit: The wife is preggo or I would have a pic of her in the tank too. Due in a few weeks. *

A couple of other pics. These were done prior to the decision of building the 140.

Maiden voyage for the skimmer I built. This was taken 2 minutes after putting it in the sump. I'm getting ready to replace it with a skimmer based on a Laguna pond pump.

Wow. Super cool. I saw your old tank in the first picture and wondered why you'd want to replace it, but very impressed with the job you've done with the new tank as well. Particularly as you appear to be only about 5 years old. 8O

Yeah - it's tough to clean the glass with such short arms!

Dean accoustic and a nylon string from a tiny company in South America (long story behind the latter). I used to have a Jaguar and a Fender banjo as well but I've let them go to focus on the accoustic a little more. I like the Dean a lot more than the laminate top Washburn it replaced - full solid top, decent sound, easy to play, and $350 including the hard case (new).

Awesome build thread!

Where did you get the material for the mini's? Excellent job on those.

Mind if I PM you about your previous 65?

Thanks. I got the material from sunlight supply. I just checked their website and couldn't find it - they have a new website though so maybe it just isn't up yet. The package I got included four 2x4 sheets. Splitting the project with another reefer brought the total per reflector to ~$30 (IIRC). We made eight in total.

Sure - I would be happy to field questions about the 65. Here's a post showing 2.5 years of growth progression (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... st13461829).

BTW Slipperman, here are PAR readings from the 65 using those reflectors. All of the bulbs were ~8 months old. The ballast on the left is a generic probe start magnetic. The ballast on the right is a coralife e-ballast.

Hey, that's a really good idea. Really helps clarify the different spread of the lighting. :)

Ape - Thanks. I can't take credit for the idea though...I saw someone else map it out like that. Now all I need is to get my grubby hands on a meter so I can do the new tank too.

Mark - I've never owned a bass but have played around on them a few times. Lots of fun. I might pick one up someday if I'm ever satisfied with my guitar.

That is one of the cleanest builds I have seen in a long time.

If you don't mind me asking:

Are you an engineer of some sort or do you just have a very serious compulsive disorder? :D

Well done! The tank and stand/hood are top notch.

I went to school for environmental science but have pushed more and more towards engineering ever since. I'm a project engineer for my company - I manage our proposal costing tool set.

Thanks!
