Just a suggestion, no LFS water should be introduced into your display tank.

No float and pour like you do but when the fish is ready to come out of the bag and into the QT net the fish in the bag and then let the fish loose in the QT.

I have a quick question on the placement of the live rock. How does everyone have it placed? I have mine towards the middle of the tank so that the fish can go around the rock, but i've seen people that have the rock all the way to the back, right next to the back glass, which means that the fish can't go around the rock, is that better??

Aquascaping rock work is something of personal preference. Just make sure that wherever you choose to place them they are secured to prevent collapse and also ensure that you have enough flow to reach all areas and prevent Cyanobacteria "Red Slime Algae" dead spots.

Woo-hoo on the skimmer news Oriol!! :)

Aquascaping is a matter of taste. Putting the rocks to the rear almost forces your fish to swim out front.
Take a looks at some of the different tanks in the Tank Thread Forum - some great ideas there!!
Some of the better books show different designs, or you might try Googling Aquascping.
I like to build toward the back, but leave openings in the rockwork to aid in circulation. The caves within my rockwork has caves where my fish can sleep or feel protected.

The most important thing is to have your rocks placed on the glass floor of the tank and build up from there - for stability of the structure. Many of our reef inhabitants dig under the rocks and you can have a bad collapse that way & destroy your entire tank!

Yes i'm very excited about the skimmer!
I was just asking the question about aquascaping because i've seen most designs with the rock towards the back, so i was just curious to know if there was a reason why. I've come up with my own design, i would like to have the rock placed in the shape of a valley, like taller on the sides than in the middle, but plenty of holes and caves for the fish to sleep and swim around. This setup will take a while, at least until i have the skimmer and all my parameters are even better.I finally did about 15G of RO/DI water yesterday, but i had a reading of 006, why is that?

Not sure on how long, but i don't think they were long. I'm going to let it run for a while tomorrow night, maybe it needs to run a little bit more in order for it to read 0. Also, while i was cleaning one of my rocks today (the one i put the algae for the Hippo) a couple small worms jumped to my hand, i threw them out, what are they? Are they good inside the tank or do i need to get rid of them? How did they get in there??

Did they look like these..only smaller?
Bristleworm.jpg

If so..bristleworms, and they are good detritus eaters but DON'T touch them! The bristles will get stuck in your skin!

Well they were really tiny so i don't know, but they were in my hand and nothing got stuck! I'm happy that my tank seems to be coming along pretty good, just still worried about my Hippo and getting that skimmer. Now there's times when i wish i had a bigger tank, like a 100G or so, that way i could do a very sweet aquascaping lol.

You'll be able to tell when they're bigger! lol
Not to worry about them now, you'll find all sorts of interesting new life in your tank as time goes on.

Sounds like you're addicted already :) Stick with what you have for now, get the hang of it and upgrades can come down the line. You can do a nice aquascape in a 46 bow!

So i've been working on setting up the equipment i got and so far it's not looking good.
The tank cracked in 2 places, there's no way i can fix it, so i guess i'm gonna be buying a new one.
Then all the equipment was dissasembled and no instructions came with it, so i'm kinda lost.
The canister filter is a Fluval 204.
The protein skimmer is a Seaclone 100.
Anyone can help me set it up?? Or any places that i can find the instructions, like detailed instructions??
