Upgrading to 40breeder..

Thank you. All the fish are getting along great. The only fish not coming out of hiding is the carpenter wrasse. I think the six line may be picking on him. The fish are as follow:

This is it. im done with upgrading. After this tank it will be no more. So im going to do my best to keep it looking good. I am very happy with this tank now.

Not much dif with the tank, just some new equipment. Power heads/ return pump. Oh and plenty of corals. Well stocked for a 40 Breeder. Ill post some pics later today.<O:p</O:p

Tank looks really good!! I love how you did the returns and all the plumbing. The only concern I have is for the 2 tangs. You say you dont plan to upgrade again, yet those fish should be in at least a 100 gal tank. Your definately gonna have probs down the road.

A problem? What problems? The purple tang 4 years old and the hippo is 1.5 years old. Unless you know something I don’t, they will be just fine. Don’t believe the hype.

danny is a good guy with good sense. hes had those fish since before his upgrade. i think he knows what hes doing, and he babies his tank like u cant imagine. ive been to his house and seen how he treats his fish and they are fine in that tank, he knows when it will be time to upgrade, he did it the last time.

All Im sayin is that those fish get pretty damn big! And if you keep them in a small tank you are inhibiting their growth. Im not critizing your reef keeping methods, Im just saying that tangs shouldnt be kept in a small tank unless you are planning on upgrading in the near future. The tank looks awesome and you definately look like you know what your doin, Im just sick of hearing people say" the fish will only get as big as the tank you put them in". Thats a bunch of BS. Your actually shortening the lifespan of said fish because your not giving it enough room to thrive!

But have you ever seen a tang get that big in a tank as they do in the wild. I haven?t. As for the tangs I have that may lack thriving. They have plenty to eat; I feed my fish (11 of them) two cubes a day of frozen mysis and brine shrimp. How much do you feed your fish?

Many people have told me that the tangs are one of the best they have seen in tanks. Don?t know how long of a life span these fish have in tanks, but in keeping an eye out for that.

Regardless of what size tank you have the fish in, if the fish is fed correctly it will grow fast and will out grow a small tank. You see it all the time, especially with the small Clown Triggers that show up ever year. It's very easy to turn a small 1"-2" fish into a 6"+ in a year. The size of the tank isn't going to stop a saltwater fish from growing, unlike you can do with a lot of freshwater fish.

It's fine to fed them mysis but Tangs do need a lot of greens in their diet.

Don’t know how long of a life span these fish have in tanks, but in keeping an eye out for that.

If given the proper conditions, food, water quality and space, there isn't a reason that a Tang shouldn't live for 15-20+ years. You'll find quite a few people having Tangs and other fish for long period of time.

Im not trying to start an argument with you, nor am I an expert of any kind. All Im sayin, is that we are trying to replicate natrure to the best of our abilities in our tanks. And putting fish, that have the ability to get that large in nature, in a small ass tank, kinda defeats that whole purpose. I dont care how much you feed him (oh and BTW brine shrimp is crap) that dosent mean the fish has enough room to grow to his/hers full potential!
