It took two days but i made it to the end and it was worth it what a build! Your tank is amazing!
Whats the size of your clean up crew? What kind of shrimp do you have and how many?
Well, thank you, for taking the time to read it all!
Clean up crew: in DT, I have 3 XL cucumbers, 5 XXL serpent stars, XL emerald crab, XXL sand sifter goby, XL algae blenny, and no idea of how many crabs and snails. I usually add 'replacement' crabs and snails every 6 months or so.
the only shrimp that I still see, is an XL coral banded, that is the 'prime suspect' in some fish 'mugging/stabbings', and I'm sure he killed all the other Pep. and Cleaner shrimp. If I could get it out, he'd be GONE!

Whats up buddy. Questions.
Do you have a screen on top of your tank?

Have any fish carpet surfed on you yet? Even with my screen I have lost several wrasses and some dart fish. They seem to find away through it. The holes on my screen are 3/8 square.

Do you just rely on macro algae to keep your phosphate level down?

Yes I have screen tops, but you're right, dartfish, firefish, and smaller wrasses can get thru!

Sorry, don't test for phos. ...as long as tank looks good, I try not to 'fool' with it.
I do have a XL recirc. skimmer, a 200g sump with 'tons' of macro algae, do 30-50g a week water changes, and :shhh: (my secret weapon)...change 2 XL filter socks EVERYDAY! Even though they are not really dirty/clogged, I change 1 in the morning and 1 at night...that way I remove 1/2 the waste, every 12 hours...otherwise all my tank water is running thru 'dirty' socks 24/7 !

what does the electric cost you a month to run this monster?

and i gotta make the trip up again.. its been too long..
Not really sure...for past few years, probably around $4-450 a month (total bill), however a few months ago, I switched all the tanks to night time lighting schedule!
I have NYSEG here, with a dual electric meter, and they offer much cheaper rates for anything run off peak hours. Instead of lights going on in morning, and being on all day, while I'm not even there, they now come on around 8 PM, and stay on at nite. It reduced the AC/chiller usage because the room was cooler at night, than in the day with lights on. Vortechs are on 'night mode' during the day.
Since we had power outages in September, and October, my electric bills are not really 'accurate', but the bill for the last 2 months was under $200 per month. (no need for chillers or heaters, lately)

Another reason that the bills are less...my daughter and grandson got their own place, so I'm using a LOT LESS electricity.

You're always welcome here, Mike

glad to hear about the flames....they're usually hit or miss with them and a beautiful male Bartlett...I very rarely see them that size
thanks Mike...flames are doing great, I was expecting some problems, but so far so good!
The 3 Bartletts are also doing great, I think I've had them about a year...picked them up from Maximum Reefs in Mt. Vernon...colors are very strong!

Wow this tank is going to be amazing
some day!
