Thought this would be a cool new thread for everyone into shallow reefs. Aloha Tropics will be building a shallow reef display 96" x 24" x 17" starting this weekend. We would love to see other sleek shallows that people have put together as this new craze is starting to really take off in the hobby. The idea behind a long display with shallow waters just seems to make sense as the cost of electricity for running those high energy lights can be overwhelming!

Let's see those aquariums 18" and below in depth!

Wow, very nice. Can't wait to see it full of Corals!

Well, the shallow tank was set, this thing broke my back. I set it on a higher stand because of the shallow view. The stand is about 35" tall. Just filled it about 3/4 with water last night. Ultimately, there will be a wall built around this tank with 3 sides viewable. Tonights project will be putting the super dark Limo Tint onto the back wall so its still viewable from the rear but blacked out from the front! The total tank volume is 170 gallons. All of the plumbing is drilled from the back wall for easier maintenance from the rear of the tank.

Aloha Tropics Shallow Reef Update:

Rock added, will probably need to scape it but here's a pic. Btw, I have about 300lbs of extra live Fiji that I can move for $2 per lb. If anyone needs!
