If you do larger water changes, its isn't possible to get it done from your sump since it hold only so much water. I siphon from the display and fill from the sump.

i do 10 to 15 gallon every two weeks
..my sump is big and it holds a lot of water, about 30 to 35

That depends on 2 things skimming wet or skimming dry, I skim dry, and it is dark brown to black

Like rkaragozler said, depends on how you skim, wet or dry. If it is wet, then you will skim green to dark green, when dry it will be even darker. If it smells then you're skimming good stuff. Also depends on your bio-load, fish, coral, and feeding.

It can the reason why its dyeing off.

If the freshly made water is coming into contact with your chaeto, it will shock the hell out of it. Just my two cents.

yes they are all diff type of snails (dwarf cerith,florida cerith, nerite, nassarius)
