I have a relatively new tank (with old rock, corals, fish from my pre-existing tank) and a new sandbed. This tank was set up (also using a majority of water from the old tank) in late March of this year. I guess I'm still in 'new tank' syndrome caused by the sand bed, which has a bed of green algae on it. It appears to be also (now) accumulating some brown, and I don't know if that is diatoms or brown algae.

Any chemistry-parameters to watch that would discourage algae please?

FTS posted today, but doesn't show (well) my algae, just the beauty of this tank!

Phosphates. Are you running a gfo reactor? Depending on your lighting schedule you could cut back a bit. Another alternative is carbon dosing. Or all natural getting a sea hair. My guess is that you are just going through a cycle having seen your 'upgrade'.
