starting up a 75gal tank how many pounds of live rock should i put in it?

Depends on how porous the rock you use is.

If you get Fiji rock that's very porous which also makes it lighter you use 1-1 1/2 lbs. per gallon

If you use a rock that's more dense like a slab rock you need to go closer to 2 lbs. per gallon.

Not many people use dense rock anynore that I've seen. We mostly use fiji, marco, BRS pukani which are all along the lines of fiji density wise.

I would recommend buying LV from someone on this site...usually sells for $2.50 - $3.00 per lb. Make sure you see pics first.

the LFS sell it for $7-8$ per lb.

Use any amount of live rocks that look pleasing to the eye. The lb per gal. rule is contraditory and unnecessary.
