All eels can be jumpers. Your best bet is to have a cover of some sort on the tank.

If you decide to keep one without a cover, keep it well fed, but not overfed. Make sure there are plenty of hiding spots for it, or add PVC pipe to the tank. Eels don't need bright light, and can easily spook when 400w MH lights turn on suddenly.

Also, I've kept eels in a reef, but if you want to do so (I don't know if you are or not), plan on replacing snails and other small inverts frequently.

Do yourself a favor... Don't try to hand feed no matter how friendly it seems. Eels have terrible eyesight and the bacteria they carry can cause a bite to be worse than just a bite.

I have a large snowflake. I keep it in a tank with a damsel and a couple of different species clownfish with never a problem. Trained to eat from tongs. Eats every other day or three. PM sent.

Zebra eels are great. Virtually reef safe, as they will only eat very small shrimp(must be smaller than fire shrimp and maybe even peppermint). They generally have good attitudes.

You should not get an eel if your tank is not perfectly covered. it will get out eventually.
