Does this work for you: Reef Octopus 8" Recirculating Skimmer I've got it in stock ;) It's set to run either external OR in-sump.

Hope this helps,

Russ

PS - Since it's a little more than your budget, you might want to purchase it through our customized Layaway program. (PM me for details). This layaway program can certainly put you into a quality protein skimmer in less time than you probably think ;) Shoot me a PM

I'm sorry man, but the budget has to go up. Do not buy a skimmer because the price is cheap. Especially for a 150g. If your budget is 200 bucks, wait a month, save some more money, and double that budget. Your not finding a quality skimmer for 200 bucks to run a 150 gallon tank efficiently. Your skimmer is one of your most important purchases.

Also, if money is an issue, take advantage of saltwater critters layaway program! The guy above me, masterswimmer, he will take care of you. Call them up, and they can set you up with a payment option layaway. And they will ship to you can will be at your door the next day. I'd highly recommend taking advantage of this!

First of all the price of a skimmer does not dictate the performance..i had a coralife skimmer rated for 65 gallons running on my 150 reef ..i had it running for 2 years with out one problem..all i had for filtration was the skimmer in a 10 gallon tank with rocks..obviously i didnt have sps corals only lps ...and you telling this guy a $200 budget is not enough money for a used skimmer when you don't even know what he is going to keep in his tank is just plain malarkey....

:sigh:

I'm not here to start an argument or mean any harm, but I'm not wrong.
NEW... Your not finding an efficient skimmer for 200 bucks.
USED... People can sell anything for what they want. Bravo on the good find.

Does it say new? Does it say used? It says a skimmer....I'm spreaking in terms of new skimmer...

Sorry Chris, I personally used a Coralife Super Skimmer 65 on a tiny 16g bowfront reef and it couldn't even handle that. I did all sorts of prescribed mods to it and eventually (2-3 weeks) just trashed it. IMO that skimmer is worthless.

As for having to spend more than $200 for a skimmer on a 150g tank, the #1 criteria is whether or not it is a new or used skimmer. Needless to say, for a used skimmer, you could conceivably get yourself a Deltec Internal Protein Skimmer SC2060 for $200 if you found a seller willing to unload it that cheaply. However, a new skimmer will be difficult to find an adequate one for a 150g tank with a $200 budget. Can it be done? Possibly, but for only a few dollars more you can guaranty that you'll have a quality skimmer for that size tank. I believe this is all Ryan was trying to convey.

In all honesty, $350 is very reasonable for a quality skimmer (Reef Octopus) rated for a 150g tank. Add to that, the fact that a Layaway Program can help manage the expense and it turns into a really nice deal.

Thanks Ryan........
