I just got some from www.diyreef.com better prices then some of the other places I've seen. It wasn't the tech light but I saved a ton of money by building it myself. Icecap individual reflectors, 5 bulbs (one extra), 8 endcaps and 8 standoffs all for about $240 (54 watt)

How much extra did you have to pay for the ballast though? That could easily bump the price to over the ebay $$.


MOIDOL, also, be aware of the fixture in the ebay listing. I know it says it includes bulbs, but the bulbs it includes are either 3000K or 6500K. Those will be very yellow for a reef. You'll have to add the additional expense of the optional bulbs as well.

I've got the TEK 6 bulb fixture. You'll love it.

Six is probably too much for your soft/lps tank. You'll probably only use 4 bulbs only....but if you plan to upgrade later, then you'll be able to make use of the 6 bulbs.

TYVM......You'll get great growth and with the right placement you'll get great colors too. What I mean by that is, don't place the fixture too close to your tank. I had mine 2" above the tank for almost 2 years. I decided to raise it to about 10" above the tank and the colors started to pop, even on my high light demanding sps. So don't go with the impression that you have to keep the fixture low and close to the tank like I did originally.

I use 2 bulbs of each of the following bulbs:

D & D Actinic +
D & D Aqua Blue + (this is a 60/40 bulb)
D & D Pure Actinic
