WTB: Tonga white hairy mushrooms

Saw some at NW but I'd rather someone here get my money instead! :teeth:

Hmmm never seen a white mushroom that that way due to a lighting change.

it a possibility they were bleached. i've seen very poor health in NWA corals lately

you could just get a regular hairy mushroom and place it directly under a MH lamp, PRESTO! Instant "Limited Edition Tyree Super Snow White Tonga Show hairy mushroom."

p.s. Don't forget there are plenty of bleached corals in the ocean :sad2: Seeing white corals while diving doesn't prove anything.

Mine, under 192w of PC. This was originally one but they got stressed from a tank crash, I now have four.

They are fluorescent green underneath.

I don't think they are, like I said under the white tentacles (?) they are fluorescent green.

I've had these for about a year now, I don't think they would be doing this well after all this time if they were bleached, but then again, I'm no expert.

The ones at NW aren't bleached, they're not completely white but an off white with some green and cream color in them. They're going to grow and open up really big, so make sure you have the room for them.

What my Shroom looked like when I got it.

What it looks like tonight (actinic shot),

The tentacles(?) have got less puffy as it crawled down to the side of the rock, but they are still pure white. The two that are still on top of the rock have the puffy tetnacles. You can see the base of the Shroom has never lost the green coloration the whole time I've had it/them.

BTW the ones in my nieces tank are about 7" across. The one I started with was about 5" before it split.

I never thought they were anything special, but all the other ones I've seen have lavender instead of the white. The tentacles around the fringe of them is a pale blue also.

Just to be clear, I'm not claiming these to be the tonga's that was being discussed, I just posted them to prove you can have white Shrooms without them being bleached. Sorry if there was any confusion about this.

Yeah but do they get the fluffy white tips as they grow- like his second pic?

the tips get fluffy, as for being white i'll have to check that tomorrow when the halides comes on:smile:
