Its a nice light an all, but there are cheaper andbetter alternatives for the long run, because sonner than later you will want some sps in your tank. Why not make it future proof?

Makw a simple hood out of wood. Sand it stain it coat it. Mount computer fans on either end and put the spiderreflectors in the hood and then choose light and ballast. Thats a saturday morning project if youre not drunk and will cost you about the same.

haha i had the best offer :D it is a good light for my 15. the only problem is that it heats up such a small tank very quickly. i had a little incident with the heater being on and the light, and i came home and my tank was 92, so far i have lost 2 sps becaus of it, and my rainbow frogspawn is not happy at all. i may lose that too, so word of warning, run an additional fan if the heat in your room is high

Sorry to here about your beautiful tank jenny :bigeyes2: ...yeah it does run hot! I bought mine from hellolights...they had the cheapest prices around. Bbut word of warning, the light and ballast runs really hot and since you have a really small tank...you might have to mod it by flipping the spine around so the light sits right above your tank and not too forward (ugly looking) . They have a thread on nano-reef.com that explains how to do it. Weigh the odds before you buy it...its quite a big amount of money...especially for a college kid (like me)!
