One thing you must remember when drilling a hole in glass......you are not actually drilling, you are grinding a hole. Therefore you put NO PRESSURE on the drill. Just the weight of the drill will be enough.

Also, keep the drill bit wet at all times. The heat generated will be enough to crack the glass. The water will take care of that issue.

Like I said, I can walk you through it very easily, just can't do it for you.

Tony, you need to have your bulkheads before you have it drilled. I've got a few 1" bulkheads on my tank that required different size holes drilled for them. Better to have the bulkheads and trace the gasket on the glass for them to drill the right size and in the right spot.

Ok my co-junior-master......your overflow and return (anything going to your sump) you want as high on the tank as possible.

Your closed loop can be anywhere. There will be no worry about any back siphoning in case of a power outage.

Your objective is to allow as little water to flow out of the tank in the event of the eventual power outage as possible. Then you want to make sure your sump has enough space in it to allow it to receive all the back siphon that your overflow and return will take from the tank.

Not sure if this is clear or not, but we can talk more about it.

Toneeeeeeeeee, the problem is, not many experienced reefers have external overflows. And if they do, they're in use.

One other thing. Anyone who's not following this thread, after 4 pages, isn't going to see this request. Start a new thread with WTB:eek:verflow as your topic. You may get some better responses.
