Not correct. When a pump has to pump upwards it creates head pressure, thus lowering the total pump output. Generally you are talking about three feet from the base of the sump to the tank or more.

Each pumps head pressure will vary. Some are better than others. What you are looking for is a 600gph pump @ 3~4foot headpressure.

Take a look at this chart from mag pumps and you will understand better. Each type of pump will have a different graph so you have to check each one.

For example if you were to go with the mag according to the graph there is no pump output of 600gph @ 3~4 ft so I would recommend you go with a mag 9.5 and insert a ballvalve in between so you can regulate the output to your liking.

One thing to remember though is the higher the head pressure the more heat a pump will give off. Also each elbow or t fitting or any kind of fitting along the return line will increase the headpressure of the pump. Dean has a link for a headloss calculator that will definitely help you get the perfect pump.

is it good for a 600 gph overflow. what condition
New!! you have to use a valve to turn it down a bit thou ,all depends on how many ft of head pressure you have .the more piping and elbows you ahve on your return .
