I never had problems with getting stung by bristle worms. But last week I got too close to a 8"+ monster and it actually stung me (took me a week and a second sting to find him). Felt like a prickly pear cactus; healed in 4-5 days and then 2 days the second time. He is currently being punished....

I am thinking I will order a bird wrasse next week.

The issue is that they leave tiny little hollow spines in your skin... very hard to remove and if you happen to grab a big worm, you can wind up with lots of them! Its kinda like fiberglass... I've found that using masking tape once my hands dry is the best way to remove them.

Some people do develop allergies to these... and some people find the sting quite painful. For most its just irritating.

If you don’t like them (I don’t :P ) get a "Trap-Em"!
Comes with some freeze-dried plankton.
Friend of mine had a 10gall fowler had loads of them he used it in a week they where gone (from what we could see  ). I had got a new piece of LR and had one (1) was gone in 4 hours lol.

i rely on them. i would never remove them unless i had one that was insanely large. (nightcrawler size or bigger)
they help keep my tank clean.
i even feed my refugium on occasion, just for them

I would keep them, if you have corals. You really can not beat live food that you don't have to work to grow, and you don't have to buy.

"a couple" wouldn't do the terrific job my infestation would (that is a pic from the fuge anyway, not the display).

It does appear that you have quite a few, but I have found that they only survive as long as there is food available. As soon as the food gets slim, they will start getting fewer...

and bigger...

I've found a few in my carreer hobby that were quite impressive....
