so far my ice fire, hawking, red vase, green vase, purple monti, pink milli, electric tort, cotton candy loripous, brown digi, are doing great its my green acropora and blue acropora that die on me im good with echinatas and everything else im even able to keep blue lollipop tunicate
I'd say your levels look good, phosphate is high but nothing that can't be fixed by running some GFO.
How old is the tank btw? I saw you were interested in Tina's frag pack. I'm not trying to discourage you from buying it, but keep in mind a lot of those acros are wild caught and not very hardy. Certainly up there in terms of difficulty level.
before you spend your cash on really nice corals only to watch them die, spend the money and get a good reactor setup.. and i would also recomend getting something to maintain your alk(get a better test kit, where it measures in dkh or meq/l) do you use RO or regular tap? not trying to dicourage you from buying nice and i mean really nice sps but i hate to see people spend all their money on coral to have them all die over night, ive been there it sucks..
Run some chemi-pure elite in your sump. Chemi-pure elite has both carbon and ferric oxide (to remove phosphates & silicates) so that will help clean up the water. As far as the alkalinity swings are concerned, try to get a better test kit like salifert and measure alkalinity at the same time everyday for 2 weeks. This will allow you to calculate daily consumption of carbonate hardness (KH) so that you can dose B-Ionic in small amounts, daily. Also be sure to do the same for calcium and magnesium, especially magnesium. If magnesium concentrations are too low, Alkalinity & Calcium concentrations will have drastic swings and be very difficult to maintain. Personally I keep my magnesium fairly high; 1420 but as long as you maintain a magnesium concentration of at least 1300, but less than 1500 you should be fine. Before you add more SPS which will consume more Alk,Ca,and Mg get everything stable.
That's great, what kind of lighting were those acros under originally? If they were under T5HO they would deff go into shock under the AI fixture if they weren't slowly brought up to the top..even under MH a lot of sps has a hard time adjusting to LEDs. You should now test for iodide/iodine. If those concentrations are too low, Sps is more likely to brown out and softies might close up to protect themselves. Reef crystals might have enough iodine in it but im not too sure about that, typically as long as it's good salt w/frequent water changes you don't have to go too crazy with dosing. Maybe try some tank raised acro like red planet from ORA
Why u dosing iodine? Before u get into dosing iodine, potassium, vodka etc... Make sure ur cal and alk r stable and temp and ph ur other elements mag iodine etc should be replenished with water changes! Basically I'm just saying Learn how to keep those levels stable first and getting sps to grow! It's not easy I don't care what anyone here says if it where u would see lots more full grown sps reefs! After u become comfortable with that if u want to experiment go right ahead!
