I add my vote for "add actinics!" Without actinics you won't activate much of the fluorescent proteins that make some of the really colorful things so colorful.

try a good 14k bulb, i use only 250w 14k as my lighting and the only issues i get are with LPS corals that do not "pop" in color also i agree with cali-reef, your tank looks like it needs some feedings.

I ran 400w 10k reeflux on my 120. If I had an 8hr photoperiod I would have bleached my tank. I was running between 4 1/2 and 5hrs per day on the halides and running my actinic for 10hrs mostly for viewing pleasure.
Do some research here and on reefcentral. MANY if not most guys run shorter photoperiods with brighter halides.

Thanks, I never heard anything about a 4 1/2 to 5 hr photoperiod, I will definitely do some more reading.

You should add tank pictures of each member who offered opinion to your list. I would want to know how their "experience" look like.

People think they know a lot because they spend hours browsing the forums.

I second that.. And Wingo I don't reccommend aminos.. I reccommend just leaving the tank the way it is and watching pars closely.. Here's a pic of one of my favorites color hasn't changed in 2+ years.. A lot of people can't keep the coral this bright either.. I do think it's one of the easier corals though..

NEXT..

Can't upload photo's right now, so just check the photo thread.. When I can I will upload..

every one has made great suggestions but maybe you should try changing the bulbs to a different kelvin and see what effect that has. If your tank has really been that stable i dont think you should try experimenting with things that may alter your water quality just yet.

My first thought about Amino dosing or increased feedings for your situation was we don't know what type of skimmer or other equipment you are using to combat the negative side of increased feedings or amino dosing ETC..

Personally i think you do have good colour, Youve gone for frags which can take ages to base out and grow upwards. Once they do this you will notice better colour.

As said a few times SPS tanks take a good year before they really kick in with growth and sometimes colour.
I would add some Blues to it i use the same bulbs as you 400w 10 reeflux and they certainly do make things yellowish.
Thats why i relax at night and turn the blues on and dim the 400watts, In the daytime it dont matter what the tank looks like.
No good looking at what i would call quick instant tanks with all mari cultured acros
They have a huge headstart on you, You will get there in the end ... and there's nothing more satisfiying that looking at a grown out tank knowing you've grown them from small colonys.

Another year and you'll think different.
