hello m/r i have made my own diy algae scrubber. its easier if you have sump with some room in it and this is how i am going to try this until i see some results in water quality. once i see +results i will make enclosed unit with laser cut acrylic.

parts required.
1"pvc in my case i have 23" long i drilled very small holes in they are not in staight in line i drilled them little off one from another. 1" union adaptor and 1" end cap and 1" female threaded coupling and then one plastic nozzle with male threat that is going to screw in female coupling . it comes in 90 degree or straight in my case i used 90 degree and for mesh i have bought 5000 btu ac filter that goes on the from of a/c i find that its perfect since its all plastic and it has rough surface for algae to hold and size is perfect i am going to use it until i find plastic mesh which i hope to fine in joanne's crafts. and i am feeding this from my manifold that i made and its hooked up to my return pump and i can controll the flow of wate with ball valve that i have on each output of that manifold.
below are some pics and after i installed it in my sump. i am using led 15w warm white light which i heard is good for algae to grow.

i will add more comments after one week from today. any comments and suggestions are welcome.
thank you
ravi

Any updates? pics of the filter now? The holes drilled would look like a lot of water that doesn't touch the ac filter. Also, why the ac filter though? With the platics frame of the filter isn't the flow being disrupted?
