DIY algae scrubber under $50.00.......update

Hello M/R i have been having problem with green hair algae. i have tried everything, kept tank in total darkness for 4 days, two phosphate reactors, bio pellets, large water changes 4 weeks in row, fuge with plants, mangrooves, cheato, cut down the feeging to fishes, took some rock out to increase flow, bought bigger powerhead for more flow, took it out with hand and with filter sock. this is my last try if i get success with this algae scrubber then i might brake down my tank and re-do my tank from scratch. i really don't have money to buy santa-monica algae scrubber. so i went through online forums, looked at various designs and with kind of space i have this is what i have some up with. i have bought mesh from art and craft store and pvc from lowes whole this cost me arround 60 for everything. i had maxijet 1200 powerhead to run this unit. i really hope it works . suggestions and comments are welcome.

Hello M/R this update of my diy turf algae scrubber. there were some tweeks and changes in adjustments with setup inorder to get these results. first change was to add pump with 750gph that can give me enough flow becaues in this will work only if there is enough flow over mesh and after that i saw after adding bigger pump there was not enough flow coming on mesh so i had to make cut on pvc litter bigger so water can flow over mesh smoothly and after that i saw algae growth pretty fast. i have added some pic of how its plumbed and results because few of you guys asked me that how i plumbed and its very simple yet working unit and total cost incuding pvc, union, glass and cutting of glass is under 70 bucks and its working fine this price does not indclue lights and pump because i had these items laying arround in my attic. any suggestion or comments please let me know i can always improve with suggestions and comments and do better job with diy next time.

that is an insane amount of hair algae in such a short amount of time.

How is the DT clearing up?

Is the scrubber light on 24/7?

Can u post pics of it hooked up and in place?

I gotta know... what are your phosphate & nitrate levels?

Thanks again
