Wow, i tried to drill some lace rock and that thing is hard like a mofo. I used a small hammer drill, but i ended up giving up. You guys tried it before? What did you use?

J, i used masonry bits. I even tried using the smaller 3/8 first since i needed 1/2 inch. I think it's definately easier drilling live rock. I am still amazed at how hard it is. I have drilled subway concrete which is hard too, but this just puzzled me.

Hey Don, thanks for the offer. I can actually try doing it at work, we have all the tools. I'll see whether i am in the mood to try again or go another route. Thanks though.

You got me all confused. How will i drill the rock with water pressure, especially lace rock? I would think i need high pressure steam for that, and where will i get such a thing, lol. I gave up on the project. But i am still curious about your method. Can you elaborate further?

Thanks.

i used a sandblaster at work, but was told that soaked rock will blow out with a high pressure water hose. only reason thought might work is cause i have gotten holes in rock in fresh water tank over period of time and chipped them larger with a chizzle
