first i am trying this because of something wingro thought of. I will keep you updated first wingro, but will post pic's as i go. well since i work at a bodyshop i get h.i.d assemblies. i am going to take 2 of them and put them in my canopy. bulb 1 more along the bluish side and one more white light. anyone with these on their car's knows how bright these are. i will get a transformer that transforms down to 12v. these are then reconverted back to 120v through their individual transformers. it wont cost me nothing but the initual converter. so figure i might try i. before i buy a mh for nano

Read up on MH and HID. There are specific HID bulbs that are used for growing plants ( http://www.wormsway.com/lightinghelp.asp, http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/guide3.shtml) and they are different from the ones you put on your car. Its a different spectrum and the light they emit is a bit brighter and made to project that light in a beam further.

Same goes with the reflector that is used for Car HID's. Its built not to spread the light evenly for growing but to shoot the beam as far as possible.

Start sending emails to both companies (HID and MH) for Light spectrum charts and compare them before you do anything.

i would use a reflector from a mh. the car part reflect's because of the form of the reflector in the headlamp. i have already took one apart and tried it with one of my indiviual reflector's from a t5. and the light is emense. it's something i am going to play with first. not in a hurry to set nano up so i got time

Rick, Just be careful with the ballast not getting any water in it. the voltage coming out those ballast can kill and i would really think twice about it.
