With the help of a new acrylic 35G RR tank I am giving to Janey, maybe ya'LL can suggest what skimmer and suMp setup she shouLd have. She'll be using her 175W MH pendant and putting in the LR and sand from AndyMon.

Tank measurements are: 36 x 15 x 15

use the old tank and divide it up with glass baffles.

first section intake and skimmer chamber, then three bubble trap baffles,
then the return section. keep it simple and easy to clean.

as Rich says get a larger skimmer than you need, it will make maintaining
the tank much easier. I'm not sure which skimmer. see if someone is selling one here.

don't forget to throw in a refugium in that sump. all you need is an extra baffle and youre still left with plenty of room for the return section.for the baffles i go to the glass shop on jerome and 175st. not too far from janets house.let me know if you need any help INK.

I was never a big fan of fuges, just one more tank to light, lol.
but it could be used as a grow out area as well.

tell Janey to save that 175 pendant she's selling, she might need it.

oh okay, I was thinking it would make a nice fuge light, :)

I wonder if the one 175 will be enough over a three foot long tank?

It's a good start, but the pendants don't spread the light out that much,
it tends to be more concentrated. that could be good as well, it can give you some low light areas for coral that don't want to be blasted by the MH.

does she know what type of coral she's going to be keeping, ahem ala a biotope ;)

just remember to use glass baffles in glass tanks, the plexi will not attach with silicone like glass will and your sump will fall apart. blah, happened to me, I learned the hard way.
