I am seriously thinking about picking this up and modding it for home use...ANY input? Has anyone tried these before? I have seen them on cars, I can only imagine a tank lit up with them...

Doesn't look like it could be used for growth, but as supplemental blue light it might be cool depending on the intensity and spread.

I don't know why, but for w/e reason the things in my tank really respond to the powerbrite led strip i bought. Everything is awake within 10-30 minutes, much faster and more vibrant than with my actinics and MH( i timed this btw). I was hoping that i could add the 120 led's slowly, maybe put them on a dimmer or just acclimate the old fashioned way. But i think the modding part would give me the most trouble- I SUCK at electronics...

you can add them one strip at a time or just plug them in one at a time look at the control box it has 4 plugs. You need a 12 volts power supply to simulate a car battery, how many amps? no idea... An old computer power supply would work yellow and black wires are 12 volts. Not sure what it would do for your reef though Im sure they are not very strong LEDS.

EXACTLY what I thought...one strip at a time. I really like the LED look for myself, it just seems like the animals like it too. From what I have heard, they grow out better and stay healthier under LEDs, but no one has explained WHY this is. All I know is that since I added the LEDs, my tank looks so much better and the animals have been thriving...
