My father is building me a custom tank stand (and canopy!) for my 100G tank :)

Here are a few pictures of the building process of the frame and custom molding that he made himself. He even added little details such as cutting the edges at a 95 degree angle before assembling so they wont be sharp angles that my 1 year old will get hurt on (he is a bit clumsy:eek:)

Any feedback would be great.

yea def cut holes in the back for your electrical too..make sure there is room to get your sump in as well it looks like it might be tight..How big is your sump? What kind of skimmer are you going to use? Is the stand going to be white or is that just primer?

Thats just a primer. Im going to paint it black to match the rest of my living room.

The sump is a 20G. I dont have a skimmer yet, havent looked into them yet. Right now I have a 29G biocube that is using a mini skimmer bc I didnt have much options for it.

The stand is coming out great. It even looks nice with just the primer painted on. Almost an antique look, lol. Cutting the back out for electrical and ventilation is a good idea. Also, you may want to think about cutting out the side panels and installing doors there. The side doors will allow you to slide your sump in or out with ease.

More pictures!
So yesterday the stand and canopy were carried out of my dad's basement ... loaded into his van and carted from the Boogie Down Bronx to Suburbia LI into my house. Boy that was not easy! Its sooooo heavy! He made it out of golden oak, if he is going to do something he is going to do it right LOL

So now it sits in its final resting spot in my living room. I still have to sand/prime again/ and then paint it. The canopy is sitting right on top of the stand for the moment until the floor beams are reinforced. I took pictures of the stand doors opened up. No handles just a lock with an extra safety latch on the right door (I have two little boys who are more curious than cats)

One little hiccup ...
The tank has an overflow on the back left side with 2 holes drilled in the bottom of the tank.

Went to drill the holes in the top of the stand and we found a little surprise .... a vertical support beam is half underneath the area where one hole should be. I guess the solution would be to put a flexible hose or a pvc elbow?

whaddaya think?
