Hello Reefers,

I would like to start a DIY led project with 72 Leds more then likely 2 to 1 blue to white, for a 90 gal tank. But what I'm looking for is a supplier that would sell the Cree leds cheaper then Rapid Led, has anyone purchased your leds in bulk and if so from what suppliers?

Would anyone like to do a group buy if we can get a savings.

To be honest with you I searched a lot online and rapidled has by far the best price on them. Unless you find a wholesaler it's hard to get them cheaper. But if you do, please tell us.

:idea: Why not start a dialog with RapidLED regarding a possible groupbuy, and if terms are reasonable; submit GB to MR administration for approval. RapidLED is a vendor here, and Mike is an easy guy to work with...

I remember a thread not to long ago a diy led thread that the guy found a wholesaler direct from china that sold him Cree LEDs for cheaper than rapid led

I will email Rapid and findout if they would be willing to do something like that with so, also I will ask a buddy who has family in china about trying to find me a led supplier. I hope I dont do all this and then no one else wants in.

Well I did and xp-g's are cheaper on rapidled, meanwells are thesame and kits are about thesame bang for a buck with both of them so I'll say those two companies have almost matching prices.

Rapidled want about $500 with out heatsinks and the heatsinks thay have are not as wide and the leds are only 8000k cree the other place is 10k cree

hi frank here, i built my own LED's 24-bulb strip,in the 440-460nm,there deep blue,nice. but don't know if bulbs are these cree or. I bought them from one of my LFstores, located at 71st and 18th ave in brooklyn (kings aquarium). Each bulb is 3watts, hooked up 4 to a series,he also sold me transformer. total for all bulbs, transformer, dieelectric grease was 90.00. I would be willing to participate in groupbuy. I did this last year, when starting my mission, i found a lot of leds sold from china and japan, but in packs of 500 or a 1,000 @ .79 - $1.84 each.I believe thats where my local gets his from. But will not disclose any information, other than to buy from him. A brother reefer from 1998.
