I just put a overflow rated at 600gph going into a 10gal sump with a protein skimmer on one side of the tank there is one pump for the return on it.

On the other side is my 10 gal rufugium with an overflow box also rated at 600gph and another pump for the return.

I'm pretty sure both pumps are rated the same 500 gph
but I can't balance the water levels in both tanks

am I doing something wrong?

I experienced same thing. You need to plumbed your sump and refugium with one overflow. It is better you buy the 20G and put a baffle to make skimmer chamber, refugium, and return chamber.

My main tank 75gallon has an overflow on each corner one overflow leads to a refugium with a pump for a return.
Another overflow leads to a sump with another pump returning the water.

Now.......I do have a ball valve on the overflow with the sump..........and the water level han't changed in about 20 minutes...........I think I found the formula with the ball valve........

Or should I just dump it and get a thirty gal and place everything in it
