I have a 75 gal RR set up that I am putting together and am looking for a good quiet return pump. I was looking into Eheim 1262 (900gph) as this was recommended as the quietest submersible pump. However, I want to have my TLF and Kent media reactors to be plumbed into the return line to avoid extra water pumps in the sump and extra heat. Would the Eheim 1262 be enough when accounting for the flow required for the 2 reactors. Oh and the water will be traveling up a little under 5 feet to enter the tank again.

I've never owned an eheim, but if you want to save a few bucks and get potentially more flow I have owned Mags and they are bullet proof.

Live and learn as they say. But do the eheims produce that much less heat? If both used internally not sure why one would be vastly superior in that regard. Again I have no experience with the eheims. One thing is for sure is that the mags are avaliable in much higher capacities.

My tank is a 75RR I also run two mp 40's when I first setup this tank I ran a mag 7 it was go then the rust thing came up took it apart and there was the rust long story short had to move so broke down the tank moved. Now I set back up the tank I now run an 1262 and could not be happier less heat no noise and I also have it feeding two reactors.

Thanks for sharing, especially since I think we have identical set ups! I'm sold... Getting the 1262.

I've got two mag 9.5s running for 4 years straight, no rust. However, there is a reason the eheims are more money. If the flow of the 1262 is sufficient, I think your making a great choice. Go for it!!

I've been using Aqua Vim pumps, they are very reliable and extremely quiet. Sometimes I have to touch the plumbing to make sure it's on. Insane. I'm running a 2600 gph pump on my 80 rimless, a bit overkill though. Could've went with a 2000 gph one. Hope this helps.
