You guys feed these to your fish? I was told that they are very good. I have started feeding them for a few weeks now. They are nice and small so most of the fish can eat them. i also like that they are slow sinking, so it gives them time to snatch it up from above. The ocean nutrition sink right away, so you need to make sure the fish are there at the moment. I think the spectrum pellets are better for my automatic feeder.

Just looking for what you guys think of this brand of food.

I have been feeding my fish the new life pellets as part of thier diet. I LOVE THE PELLETS! The crazy thing is my Mandarin even learned to eat them. Over a few month period, I noticed the coloration of my fish was much "healthier" It is hard for me to totally give credit to the pellets because I mix feedings with Formula one, two, prime reef, seaweed and live food.

Another positive about the pellets (at least the size I have) they are light enough that even when they sink, a moderate flow will push them around catching the attention of the bottom feeders too.

The label does say copper sulfate. My shrimp have been eating these pellets for a long time with no problems. I never thought to check the ingredients.

Wouldn't they have killed my shrimp especially if they have ingested the pellets?

This is from New Life Sprectrum

For your information, Thera+A contains a "very" large amount of garlic, more than sufficient to do the job.

Copper Sulfate is an essential trace element in all living things, even natural sea water contains copper sulfate. When hobbyists think of copper sulfate, they always think in terms of medication that is very deadly to reef aquarium, but the amount of copper sulfate in Spectrum fish food could not even be detected by the most sophisticated instrument.
In other words it is very minute, yet it is very important to all life forms.
It is absolutely safe for your reef aquarium.

Maybe we can test for copper by dropping a pellet or two in a vial. I don't feed it that much, i try to feed other foods as well. But from what i see, the inverts seem fine. How long has it been on the market? Anybody know?

I feed everything in my tank new life spectrum pellets including my rbta and corals. No problem for the past 3 years.

I believe people on RC say copper sulfate is in all foods, etc....

I've been feeding NLS pellets to my reef for over a year and my skunk cleaner shrimp loves them. Never had any problems other then it turns my ocellaris clowns a maroon color if I don't supplement with cycolpeeze . I attribute that with a lack of orange pigment in the food that cyclopeeze has. Of course no one food has everything.

copper bind to sulfate doesnt do anything harmful to your livestock. IT's free copper ions that kills inverterbrates. Just like how rust FE2O3 is binds phosphate when free ions for caulpra is good for it's growth but kills all livestock in aquria. Dood this sopper sulfate is safe. Little of everything is goooood.

I have been feeding my tanks with them since day one when I become a dealer of their products. NO ill effects has been detected unless you think continuous spawning and motting are some problems. My shrimps tends to molt and spawn much more often than those my friends own.

No need to over react whenever you see copper. The compound is inert.
