I agree with Lunner. I had a Longnose Hawk for 2 years along with peppermint, pistol and cleaner shrimps & he never bothered any of them. He was fun to watch, a uniquely shaped fish and a perfect tank citizen. I currently have engineer gobies which were interesting as juveniles when they shoaled in the tank but as they get bigger they dug everywhere. Just realize that all your bottom dwelling corals will get dumped on. I also have 2 yellowhead jawfish which are pretty cool. I got them from www.reeftopia.com Good luck & keep us posted.

Sarah, your tank is a mature tank. Lots of rockwork. I think you could attempt a mandarin. I like the pschedelic's, but the spotted are nice looking too. From your fish list, I don't see any that will compete for pods.

I WOULD ADORE THAT FISH but... well... I dont have any algea. and I dont have any purple coraline. not sure I am ready for it. I have less faith in my tank. I want stick with hearty fish for now.

They don't eat algae or coraline at all. They eat copepods. With a 120g tank, loaded with LR and nothing else that competes for the same food source, you should be one of the ones that can keep a mandarin.

I've only got a 75g and about 110 lbs of LR and my mandarin is three years old, in my tank.

Sarah, picture this being less than 1/2 the size of a grain of rice. That's a copepod:

Some wrasses will compete with a Mandarin for pods. Then again, I have 5 or 6 wrasses and a Mandarin in my 75, and still have bazillions of pods all over the tank & in the fuge. :)
In my cube I have a Coral Hawkfish (Pixy Hawkfish) with a Coral Banded Shrimp and the hawk doesn't bother him. Pure personality in this fish- he's a hoot and 'runs' right over when I go near the tank. He sits there staring at me..cute fellow!
