Everyone is fat and happy. They will be relocated when they outgrow my tank. I always planned on this happening. I guess my main point was pointing out that multiple tangs can exist with virtually no aggression. What i do works for me. It may not for someone else.

There will always be aggression between tangs regardless how large or small the tank is. As the fish get larger, and they're going to get larger, you're going to see more and more aggression between them and possible some of the fights could lead to deaths.

To tell someone it's ok to keep 10 tangs in a tank is wrong, specially such a small tank.

umm.... lets not get into a tang war on this thread guys- I only want a max of three anyways.

Hi SarahandKevin, I know Marrone is saying the purple tang won't be a problem, and I honestly do not mean to step on any ones toes. But it has been my experience that the purple tangs are very territorial, and aggresive. I was adviced to leave the purple as the last addition. I didn't listen, and boy did I pay for it. Eventually what I had to do was introduce 3 or more tangs at the same time so that he couldn't pick on anyone in particular. I lost that tang when I moved along with everything else. I currently own 2 blonde naso, and 2 purple tangs,(not my doing, my girlfriend died, and left me her setup) they were all introduced into the tank, (which by the way is a 155 bow) at the same time. When I tried to bring in 2 yellow tangs the smallest of the purple ones has killed them. I tried twice, and twice he killed them. They did the same thing to a sohal, so I stopped trying. Hope this helps.

Awibrandy,

Thanks for your imput. The fish I listed are the fish that are already in my tank. I already have a purple tang. I dont want to get a yellow tang- since I hear that purples and yellows are too close and will often fight. I was thinking about a nazo tang. which, as I understand are different enouph to not be a problem... but it seems that some people think that the nazo will get to big for the size tank that I have (others think it is fine). So I will put the thought to the side for now. and think about other fish.

Just saw randys wrass---- ooh I want!

Oh and I forgot to list that I have a PJcardinal too!!!

Well we are back to square one.
the wrasse we liked eats feather dusters- and we like our feather dusters. most of the other wrasses seem to be jumpers - and we have an open tank. so... now what?

The flame halk eats shrimp. so they are out.

I went back on this tread- someone had posted suggestions with photos- and now it is gone! did the mods deleat it? wish I remembered what all the suggestions were :(

so - front and center fish- lots of color- easy care- whats out there?

you mean these photos ? they are still there.

I would look at the
Fridmani(Orchard Dottyback) Dottyback can be somewhat aggressive but shouldn't be a problem with what you have.

Sunrise Dottyback-Not that aggressive and very active.

Cardinal Fish, you could even get a pair

You probably want to look at some of the smaller wrasse and maybe an one of the many different Blennies.

If you're going to get a Naso I would get a small one as they do grow to a pretty good size and need plenty of swimming room. I wouldn't worry to much about the Purple bothering it.

Don't forget you have a reef tank and you don't want to load it with to many fish as it will put a strain on your bio-load in the tank. For that reason you may want to pass on the larger Naso and go with a smaller fish.

Go to home depot and buy some light difuser and put it over your tank, that should be enough to keep any jumpers in the tank, you can trim it to fith the openings on the top of the tank and it won't block light going into the tank.

Difuser will work with all the listed possibilities and it's dirt cheap only a few bux for a 4x2 sheet.
