Got up in the middle of the night, glanced over to my tank, and saw a swarm of little moving things. upon closer inspection. One of my seahorses (big black) had a huge batch of little guys.

woke up this morning, to most of these guys in my sump.
they are still floating around in the fuge area kicking around. got them some cyclopeeze, but they probably wont make it. I totally wasnt expecting this yet. I am not prepared.

Ill have a few pix up in a bit but WOW.
there was about 60- 150 of them.

anyone succesfully raise them?

Oh these were from Dom, I got these frisky guys/girls in mid Dec.

And to boot, I caught all 4 mating, I have 2 guys and 2 girls. So I have 2 guys with FULL bellies. didnt get their dance on camera, I will soon,
These guys have NO SHAME, right in front of me.

4 horses named, big black, charlie, sarah-jessica, and mini.

Im still in shock didnt expect it so soon though.

Thanx for looking
-Joe

If they are large enough you can start them on BBS, otherwise you will need to get some rotifers - I have a couple of brine shrimp hatcheries you can borrow and I am located in Chelsea. PM me if you need help with these. Congrats!

cyclopeeze is way too big for just released seahorses. You want rotifers or artemia nauplii (baby brine) as mentioned before. If you haven't raised them before, odds are you will lose most of them anyway so don't get bummed. If you do manage to keep them alive for awhile, your best bet is to cull the smaller or any that have deformities or seem weak so you can concentrate your efforts on a smaller group of healthy fry.

I think that Manhattan Aquarium sells live rotifers. Baby Brine is not the best food for them... But once you get a culture of rotifers going it will last forever. (Especially if you have a good fuge going)

Alfred

I have a brine hatchery, eggs, and a bottle of live freshly hatched brine shrimp.

Send me a PM if you need anything.

Ooh, good luck. It took several tries before dom got his past infancy so don't get discouraged. They will have many more broods so you will have many chances. You should probably enrich the bbs with selcon - I believe that's what dom did.

found a method where someone had a in tank breeder net cube, with a brine shrimp hatchery that I am now making,
it seems easy enough with the brine, but am wondering wether i have northern or southern erectus?
i believe northern are harder as the dont hitch at birth (pelagic)

just got some selcon too, i knew i bought it for a reason.

well who knows going to get a air pump and some brine eggs and practice the food at least and ill see how it works out for me.
