Jose, as long as it comes sealed it should be ready to go. If you're storing the membrane, you need to keep it submerged in a bag/container.

Run ~20g RO water through it before using any water.

Pressure guage should go after RO membrane.
not before the membrane? (i had it before to see the pressure going in).
and i assume ideal pressure (on 75GPD) is 60 PSI?

TDS should be T'd off of Output water.
the TDS has two sensors, so one obviously should go on the final product water, and the other? between the membrane and the DI? between the carbon and the membrane?

:thanks:

I would put the pressure gage on the inlet side of the RO membrane to check the prefilter quality if you know your home water pressure, a drop in pressure would indicate the prefilters are clogged.

I put mine dual in-line TDS sensors at the outlet of the RO and one at the end of the DI. This will tell you the effectiveness of the RO and DI.

thats what i figured. Thanks cali.
and i guess well all agree to put the booster pump between the carbon and the membrane (but before the pressure guage).

you change your prefilters as soon as you notice a decrease in pressure? i tend to leave them on a little longer as the pressure will already decrease after within a month...

I don't use a pump so I don't know, our house pressure is about 65 PSI.

I have a whole house sediment filter right after the water meter and so far I haven't seen pressure drop due to blockage. I ended up changing the filters (all three) after 9 months or so with a estimated 100 gallons of RO\DI a week production rate.

why did you not ask this in your RO/DI thread? ;)

I have my booster pump after my first micron filter,

so my set up goes,

10 micron, booster pump, 5 micron, 1 micron carbon, RO, permeate pump, then split to drinking water and DI filter.

I also have a pressure guage and some other extras I still need to install.
under my sink is fun :D

under your sink is fun huh??lol, i think i have enough pressure at home (still need to order a gauge) but when i do connect my pump to my unit the output from ro is like 25ppm. i'm assuming this is because i'm forcing water through the membrane.....i get alot more water, both waste and good (if you would call 25 ppm good). but i leave the pump off as the efficiency of the unit drops when it's on.i can't dial down the pressure pump (or just don't know how).right now my tap water comes out at 42 F and i make about 30-35 gpd with a brand new 75gpd membrane...i like it cuz i always have water stored in my 44g brute and never use that much water to begin with.

it is fun, do you know how many people have looked under my sink and laughed? :splitspin

I'm thinking of upgrading to the 14 gallon pressure tank :)

i currently have mine between the sediment and the carbon (cant remember why i put it there originally). i am considering moving it before the membrance (after the carbon filter) as per the prior suggestion.
actually, wouldnt having it before the pre-filters be a better way to see when they are clogged?
