Ummm... he's not saying he dumped an unknown chemical into it. He dumped soap, which is mainly ammonia based. If he detects any ammonia it's safe to say there could be other chemicals. If he doesn't detect ammonia, I would say it's safe there are no other chemicals at detectable levels since the main component is undetectable.

Actually most commercial "soap" is sodium lauryl sulfate based. It's a synthetic detergent. This is also why you won't find the word soap on most body washes, dishwashing detergents, or other cleaners. True soap is lye based, which is also not ammonia.

While some cleaners may have ammonia in them, most don't, which is why testing for ammonia will have no bearing in this instance.
