This probably is one of those worrying to much questions but figured id ask, i did the dishes and accidentally touched some soap with my hands as i was taking off those stupid gloves lol, and i saw something floating around in my new water for my water change so i quickly grabbed it out with my fingers, is that water now ruined. or as long as i dont see suds or anything i can still use that water. its not like i had soap dripping from my hands or anything just wanted to make sure, probably stupid but wanted to ask anyway.

It should be fine...it's not like you dumped a whole bottle of soap in your tank lol. Whenever Im about to work in the tank I wash my hands with warm water and soap and sometimes there might be a small remnent or something. Nothing bad ever happened.

Nothing to worry about.

You do have to realize that you can never 100% rinse off any soap from your skin as it goes into your pores. Even if you rinse your hands and arms really good there is always residue left behind. So case in point... a lil soap never hurt anything.
Now if you dropped a bar of soap or squeezed in liquid soap into the water... then you are asking for it.

I could dump arsenic in my tank and it wouldn't raise the ammonia. Once things started dying it would go up, but the ammonia reading won't help at this point.

Ummm... he's not saying he dumped an unknown chemical into it. He dumped soap, which is mainly ammonia based. If he detects any ammonia it's safe to say there could be other chemicals. If he doesn't detect ammonia, I would say it's safe there are no other chemicals at detectable levels since the main component is undetectable.
